The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that the White House is considering slashing tariffs on Chinese goods to de-escalate the trade conflict.
Citing one senior White House official, the news outlet said that tariffs on imports from China were likely to come down to between roughly 50% and 65%.

Wall Street's main indexes gather bullish momentum following this headline. At the time of press, the S&P 500 Index was up nearly 3% on the day, and the Nasdaq Composite was rising 3.5%. In the meantime, the US Dollar Index (DXY) recovers from session lows and was last seen losing 0.4% on the day at 99.25.
